kitchen remodel

Living in your home during a kitchen remodel isn’t easy. Yes, you may lose your stove, oven, and kitchen sink, but that doesn’t have to mean weeks of TV dinners or dozens of take-out containers. In fact, with a little ingenuity and a healthy dose of humor, you can make the most of what you have to work with.

  • Look around—what available space can you turn into a temporary kitchen?
  • Devise a system ahead of time for meal prep. Keep breakfast simple and for dinner have plenty of frozen meals prepared in advance of construction starting.
  • Take frequent breaks from the noise and dust. Breathe. Make time for a non-remodeling life by getting away for a weekend or going to the movies. Have a game night with friends. The point is to not let the remodeling process be all-consuming.

Most of all, remember it’s temporary. If it’s easier to use disposal plates and cutlery, go for it. Thankfully, there are plenty of eco-friendly options out there and you won’t have to feel too guilty about it. Before you know it, you’ll be enjoying your beautiful new kitchen and any inconveniences will become faded memories.
