Cleaning Wood Floors

The enemy of hardwood floors is moisture. By adding moisture, you cause the wood to expand and contract which will eventually break down the protective seal that’s on your hardwood.

A common incorrect way of cleaning is by using a steam mop or, even worse, an actual mop, which just introduces too much moisture into the hardwood.

We have a three step best practice for caring for your hardwood.

Step Number One is use a vacuum cleaner to get the big particles of dirt and dust off of your floors. Next you’re going to want to micro fiber the entire surface, and finally we recommend using a product like Bona which is specifically designed to use a concentrated amount of moisture to clean your hardwood floor.

By following these steps you’ll be able to enjoy your hardwood floors for years to come!
