Our clients came to us with a vision of their home feeling both fresh and functional—a place where everyday living felt effortless, entertaining felt natural, and private retreats were seamlessly woven into their daily routine. Understanding their goals, our team went to work redefining and expanding their home into a retreat that not only served them but did so beautifully.
As you enter the home, the foyer sets the tone with updated lighting and a fresh coat of paint, bringing new life to the space. What was once an empty loft room was transformed into a functional office space by simply adding built-in shelving and updated can lights.
Kitchen & Breakfast Nook
Our clients wanted to bring a modern, fresh feel to their kitchen without changing its overall flow or functionality. To achieve this, we introduced a series of thoughtful updates that enhanced both its character and style. The existing pendants were replaced with light matte brass globe pendants, setting the tone with a sleek, modern statement. To create cohesion with the rest of the kitchen, we used matte black cabinet pulls and a Pull-Down Bridge Faucet by Signature Hardware.
For contrast, we updated the range hood, while the island base legs were refreshed with a coat of Sherwin-Williams Swiss Coffee, tying in seamlessly with the hood’s color and finish. What was once a mudroom next to the kitchen was transformed into a cozy breakfast nook with built-in bench seating, softly lit by the Beatrix pendant from West Elm. The base of the bench was finished in Sherwin-Williams Black Fox, a rich tone that perfectly complemented the lighter Swiss Coffee used on the island base while still creating contrast that ties seamlessly with the matte black fixtures.
Family Room
Just across from the kitchen, the family room was designed to feel open and welcoming. The fireplace was refreshed with a clean stucco surround, bringing a modern touch that pairs beautifully with new open shelving and the bold iron sliding doors leading to the four-seasons room. To keep the palette cohesive, the walls were painted in Sherwin-Williams Swiss Coffee, the same shade used in the kitchen, and the ceiling fan was updated with a matte black fixture that ties in seamlessly with the kitchen finishes. To make the most of their lush, tree-filled backyard, we added a gridless panoramic window, framing uninterrupted views of the greenery and filling the room with natural light.
Four-Seasons Room
Our clients had a screened-in porch connected to their family room that they loved, but could only really enjoy when the weather wasn’t too extreme. They wanted to be able to enjoy this part of their home all year round, while also feeling like it was an extension of their family room. To help them achieve this, we removed the screened panels and replaced them with panoramic windows, added a wood-plank ceiling, skylights, and heating lamps so they can enjoy this space even in the cooler months. What really tied the whole experience together was replacing their swing-out door with a double-slider iron door, which opened up the space to creating the perfect indoor-outdoor experience they were looking for.
Laundry Room + Powder Room
The laundry room shows that even the most practical spaces can feel inviting. New cabinetry and a coat of Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee paint set a bright foundation, while the Portmore White subway tile backsplash and Rushmore Park porcelain floor tile bring in a subtle warmth that complements the cabinetry beautifully. Paired with a sleek Kraus Oletto matte black faucet, the space feels both functional and refined.
Just next door, the powder room was transformed into a moody yet refined retreat. A floating wood vanity anchors the space with an organic warmth while beautifully echoing the butcher block countertops seen in their kitchen. The matte black Kohler plumbing fixtures and blown glass pendant light from Visual Comfort add sophistication and subtle drama. Together, these updates prove that even the smaller spaces carry both function and personality while still beautifully continuing their home’s story.
Dining Room
For the dining room, our clients wanted a space that felt bold yet comforting—an intimate setting for meals that also carried its own sense of character. To achieve this, we used Scott Living’s Westport wallpaper, bringing in pattern and movement without overwhelming the room. The trim and ceiling were painted in Benjamin Moore Holiday Wreath, a deep, saturated green that adds both drama and warmth, perfectly capturing that balance of cozy and striking. The result is a dining room that feels inviting for everyday meals but has enough presence to make gatherings feel special.
Guest & Secondary Bedrooms
We made a few updates to the guest and secondary bedrooms, replacing the accordion-style closet doors with swing-out doors, installing matte black modern fans and can lights, and refreshing the walls with fresh paint and wallpaper.
Primary Suite Addition
The most transformative part of the project was the addition of the primary suite. Our clients wanted this space to be more than just a bedroom—it needed to become an integral part of their daily routine, where they could truly unwind after a long day and start each morning with intention. Because they worked from home, we connected the suite to their lounge office through a private seating room, allowing them to ease into the workday feeling refreshed and retreat just as easily afterward without ever leaving their sanctuary.
Designed as a retreat, the suite features exposed wood beams that add character and warmth, while the walls are painted in White Flour by Sherwin-Williams for a soft, airy backdrop. Overhead, a Williams Sonoma Ingrid chandelier serves as a warm focal point, bringing elegance with a modern edge. A walk-in closet with glass-and-iron doors provides a boutique-like entrance, while the bedroom flows seamlessly into the spa bathroom.
The bathroom walls are painted in that same Swiss Coffee by Sherwin-Williams, creating a light and calming foundation for the warm wood tones of the floating double vanity. At the heart of the room, the freestanding Kohler tub rests on a bed of smooth river stones, creating a grounding focal point that welcomes our clients to truly unwind. The zero-entry shower, finished with Kenridge Ribbon Maple Matte porcelain tile, adds an organic warmth, while Kohler matte black fixtures provide a modern contrast.
This balance of natural warmth and modern refinement turned the suite into more than just a functional addition—it became the personal retreat our clients had envisioned, perfectly supporting their lifestyle of working, resting, and recharging at home.
Lower-Level Entertainment Room + Deck
Our clients love to host, and they wanted their lower level to feel connected to the outdoors while still being comfortable year-round. We refreshed the basement with a fresh coat of Sherwin Williams Black Fox paint and fully enclosed the patio to create a space that feels like a natural extension of the interior. By opening up this connection, the home now offers a seamless indoor-outdoor experience—perfect for hosting family and friends without missing a moment together.
With each intentional choice, this home was transformed into a place that works beautifully for the rhythms of their everyday routine and their love for hosting. This home now reflects not just timeless design, but the way our clients truly want to live. We’re grateful to have guided them through this transformation.
