Even the smallest remodeling projects come with their share of anxiety, so it’s easy to imagine what can happen during a whole house remodel!
Anything that disrupts our normal routine tends to increase our stress level. How to survive? If we were to give just one tip, it would be this: Try to relax while visualizing the final results.
Keep Your Sanity
We always recommend that a client moves out of their home during a whole house remodel. Not only does it make it less stressful for them, but it also helps speed the process, a good thing for everyone. Other ways to ride it out include:
- Scheduling the renovation during vacation time or at least recharging during a long weekend away from the construction zone.
- Keep the lines of communication open with your crew and family. Better to honestly hash things out as they happen instead of letting resentments build.
Finally, indulge in a venting session now and then. That doesn’t mean constantly whining about your house, but a good friend (especially if they’ve been through it) and a favorite drink can have you feeling better in no time, and will get you through those times you’re questioning the wisdom of remodeling at all. Remember, the uncomfortable interim is absolutely worth a beautiful new space for your family to enjoy at the end of your remodel!
