The Design | Build Process

Step 1

After our phone consultation, we set up a meeting at your home to get acquainted and further evaluate your remodeling needs and ideas. Important details for us to consider include your project’s timeframe, budget and your vision for the finished product (Houzz ideabooks, Pinterest boards and magazine clippings work great for this). At this time, we will advise you of any foreseeable issues; such as structural, plumbing, and zoning concerns, and take rough measurements where needed. Generally, this meeting lasts no longer than 90 minutes. Within seven days we will present a Project Development Agreement which includes a mini-spreadsheet outlining your project steps and corresponding costs.
COST: Complimentary up to the Project Development Agreement.
TIMEFRAME: Visit takes approximately 90 minutes. Estimates are completed within seven days of initial visit.

Step 2

At this stage of the process we begin to put the plan in place for your renovation. We will gather existing site information; photographs of your existing space, site measurements,site surveys and consult our Structural Engineer if necessary. Light destructive demo may be required to identify hidden conditions. We then create as-built drawings using the information gathered from this visit in Google Sketch-Up and produce our initial proposed new space drawings at this time. Consecutively, we will be assisting in the gathering and/or selecting of your finishes with you or if you prefer, your interior designer. The Project Development step is one of the most time consuming (and the most fun if we do say so!) of the entire renovation process.We expedite this process by creating a Design Gantt Schedule in which tasks, responsible parties, and projected milestones are outlined. At the end of this phase you will have completed Construction Agreement with all plans, specifications, selections and final fixed investment amount for approval.
COST: Varies by project, but roughly 5% of total estimated project cost, which applies to your construction agreement once engaged.

Step 3

Once you approve the fixed construction agreement, detailing all of your selections, project specifications and budget, we will begin your renovation! Our Production team, lead by David Crabtree, will pull the necessary permits and begin construction. You will continue to have access to our project management software to follow your project’s progress through this phase; see daily site photographs from our Lead Carpenters, follow along with your renovation gantt calendar and communicate any questions you might have through this portal. During construction we place particular emphasis on protecting your home and maintaining a pristine work area. David C will serve as the point person during the construction phase and will brief you weekly on progress. Our entire team is available (by both phone & email) should any questions arise.

Step 4

When construction is complete, we thoroughly clean the project site (including dusting, sweeping and remove any lingering construction debris). At the final walk-thru, we will provide you with your personal ‘Renovation Handbook’ which includes your selection items, any change orders your requested along the way, care instructions, and warranty information for your project. Finally, you will receive an email or phone call from Guild Quality a third party review company, who will survey your experience with our team from start to finish. Your input is vital and influences the future direction of our company.
