Foyer & First Impressions
Our clients wanted the home to feel welcoming before you walked through the door. As part of the whole home renovation, the front porch was expanded to create a proper welcoming moment, with rocking chairs and a grand entry door that set a family-friendly tone before you ever stepped inside.
The foyer itself was completely transformed. Tall ceilings with full-height wall molding give the space an architectural presence that feels both classic and fresh. The staircase was redesigned with natural white oak treads, a clean white base, and sleek black iron balusters. Their wood chandelier overhead ties it all together without weighing it down. The herringbone hardwood makes an immediate statement that carries throughout the rest of the home.
From the foyer, the home opens naturally in every direction. To the left, the original living room was reimagined as a library as part of the renovation, lined floor-to-ceiling with custom built-in shelving with brass gallery lights and a quiet seating arrangement. To the right is a thoughtfully designed home office with its own custom cabinetry, glass-front upper cabinets, and a light-filled workspace that still feels connected to the warmth of the rest of the home. And straight ahead is the heart of the home, the kitchen.
Kitchen
Our clients wanted a kitchen that could keep up with their family’s pace. They love watching cooking competitions and wanted their kitchen to be the perfect spot for their kids to have cookie bake-offs. To make that possible, their kitchen needed to be wider, more capable, and more open than their current one, while still feeling connected to the family room. The wife wanted to be present with her family even while cooking, with a clear view of both the breakfast room and the family room wherever she stood. That sightline became the guiding principle for the entire space.
What came together is nothing short of a dream kitchen. The footprint was dramatically expanded as part of the addition, anchored by an oversized island with a bright quartz countertop that invites the whole family to pull up a stool and stay a while. Warm, natural wood cabinetry wraps the perimeter, grounding the space with richness and texture, while the white island keeps everything feeling bright and open. Exposed wood beams overhead carry warmth upward, and a pair of brass lantern pendants over the island add just the right amount of drama without competing with the natural light pouring in through the wall of windows in the breakfast room.
The butler’s pantry, tucked just off the kitchen, adds the kind of storage and prep space that makes a busy household run smoothly, and gives the whole cooking experience a sense of ease and luxury that the family now wonders how they ever lived without. And with the family room and breakfast room always in view, separated only by open air, this kitchen doesn’t just function beautifully. It draws everyone together exactly the way our clients always hoped it would.
Family Room + Outdoor Addition
The new family room sits at the heart of the addition, with soaring vaulted ceilings and exposed natural wood beams that give the space a sense of scale that feels grand but never cold. A statement chandelier hangs at the peak, and the room opens directly to both the kitchen and the breakfast room, making it the natural gathering point for the whole family. The breakfast room itself is nothing short of breathtaking, wrapped in floor-to-ceiling black steel windows with an arched transom that frames the backyard like a living painting. Light pours in from every angle, and the connection to the outdoors is immediate and effortless.
The covered outdoor living space extends the addition beyond the walls entirely. Finished with Tuscan Villa Ivory tile and outfitted with Monte Carlo indoor/outdoor ceiling fans, it is a space designed to be used year-round, whether that means a quiet evening or a yard full of people.
Master Suite
Before this whole home renovation, our clients’ master suite was tucked away on the upper level in a space that no longer made sense for their growing family. As the kids needed more room of their own, it became clear that the upper level was better suited for them. With the rear addition, our clients were able to bring their master suite to the main level, converting their existing guest suite into a space that finally felt right. Close enough to the rest of the home to feel connected, and private enough to truly unwind at the end of the day.
The bedroom itself sets the tone the moment you walk in. Vaulted ceilings with exposed natural wood beams give the room a sense of height and warmth that feels both grand and deeply relaxed. Bright, airy, and finished in soft blue-gray custom cabinetry with honed quartz countertops and a matching tile floor, the space feels like it was designed for mornings you actually look forward to. A freestanding soaking tub sits beneath a window framing the backyard greenery, and the glass walk-in shower adds a spa-like ease to their daily routine. Paired sconces and arched mirrors above the double vanity bring just the right amount of elegance without tipping into excess. Every finish was chosen to feel cohesive, intentional, and completely theirs.
Upper Level
For our clients, getting the upper level right was just as important as anything else in this whole home renovation. These weren’t just extra bedrooms. They were spaces built specifically for their kids, designed to grow with them and feel like their own. The reconfiguration of the original master suite gave each child room to breathe, with their own bedroom, shared closets, and a jack-and-jill bathroom connecting them. Each room was thoughtfully finished with its own personality, giving every kid a space that feels distinctly theirs while still fitting cohesively into the rest of the home.
The shared jack-and-jill bathroom is where the design really shines. A deep teal-blue custom vanity with brass fixtures and a large gold-framed mirror gives the space a personality that feels elevated without being precious. White zellige-style tile above the vanity adds texture, and the white herringbone floor tile keeps it clean and timeless. A second bathroom serves the remaining bedrooms with warm natural wood cabinetry, white hex tile flooring, a skylight that floods the space with natural light, and a glass-enclosed tub and shower with marble-look tile and brushed gold hardware.

Lower Level
The basement expansion was a key part of the overall addition, and it gave the lower level room to breathe. With more square footage to work with, our clients were able to spread the family room and game room into spaces that could actually serve their purpose, rather than competing for the same floor.
The result is a lower level with real personality. The family room is wrapped in deep charcoal wall molding and built-in shelving, warm and settled with a palette that feels distinctly its own. The kind of space you sink into and don’t want to leave. The game room extends naturally from there, with a ping pong table, arcade games, and enough open floor that the energy can shift easily from quiet night in to full house without missing a beat.
The wet bar ties it all together. Exposed brick stretches floor to ceiling behind floating wood shelves, paired with dark custom cabinetry, a beverage refrigerator, and a dark stone countertop. Earthy, warm, and full of character, it makes hosting feel completely effortless.
White oak hardwood floors run throughout, keeping the lower level connected to the rest of the home, while the contrast of dark trim, bold paint, and warm brass accents gives it an identity that is entirely its own.
